Sleep

By Sarah O’Brien

Pace sets in, forward motion

Head rests low

While on your chest

Muscles wasted

 Always knowing

Weaker still, pace unmatched

Lips that smile, forever sombre

Walking through a restful sleep

Eyes that drink

hands that hold you

Strangers lungs

heard across the street

Easing canvas

Blood red orchid

Sleep comes again
