You lose

By Sarah O’Brien

I felt it nigh

burning, twisting knife

You believe, judge, connive.

But you know nothing

Nothing of a time,

when love was bleak

hearts intertwined.

Don’t call me up,

offer your time,

You are not the one I love

Not my bind.

And when he asks

I’ll smile in line

with expectations and knowledge

that he is mine.

I’ll weather the winds, take the pain

Watch you warp, perverse and lie

But you don’t realise what you wind

because our love is forever,

Yours is timed
