Sisters

By Sarah O’Brien

I cried today thinking of you,

Your quirky grin and freckled skin,

Your shiny hair, always escaping its pin,

A life you’ve made, across the sea,

A history carved out, onto sand it feels,

Shared memories, laughs and dancing duvet days,

Hugs and dreams that soon parted ways,

And urges homeward too long delayed.
