Affordable American drug store giants like NYX, Wet and Wild and Physicians Formula have recently traversed the pond to set up shop in Ireland and while that makes me happy beyond belief, their products are often difficult to find amongst the decimated stands in your local stockist. I personally have been lusting after NYX’s famous Milk chubby eye pencil, their taupe ‘blush’ (which is actually a classic grey toned contour powder) among other products for quite some time now.
Though living in Ireland can often mean limited access to certain brands, websites like Beautybay/Cultbeauty.co.uk do stock lots of hard to get American brands like Anastasia Beverly Hill. Unfortunately the cost of shipping on top of the price of already expensive lines can be crippling. That’s why good makeup dupes are the lifeblood of any college student’s lengthy beauty wish list.
Speaking of dupes, NYX has really been upping their game recently bringing out dupes for the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade and Brow Whiz pencil (I’ve yet to test those out but you can be sure a review will be soon to follow once I do).
Anastasia’s brow products are what made the brand famous and given that I don’t want to pay crazy shipping, when I heard Karen from Lovely Girly Bits say that the new Soap and Glory Archery 2 in 1 Brow Filling Pencil and Brush was an uh-mazing dupe for Anastasia’s Brow Whiz, I was on board to try it.
The Brow Whiz is different from other brow pencils in that it’s incredibly fine tip makes creating the look of natural individual brow hairs a breeze. Soap and Glory’s offering does exactly the same thing. Its consistency is neither too hard in that it would be difficult to impart colour nor so creamy that the product would slide around your brows during the day. The only downside of the Soap and Glory Archery pencil is that it comes in two shades (Hot Chocolate and Blondshell) versus the Anastasia Brow Whiz’s nine which ranges from light taupe to granite.
I picked up Soap and Glory’s hot chocolate pencil, which is a nice cool toned brown colour that I could see suiting a lot of hair colours, ranging from dark blonde to black. One of the biggest problems people often find with drug store brow products is that they are very warm in undertone.
Well-loved brands like Rimmel offer shades such as hazelnut which for many people is way too red to look natural in their brows. Soap and Glory Archery 2 in 1 pencil has nailed it, from their formula, to their fabulous packaging and spoolie, which makes combing the product through the brows easy and lends to a more natural finish.
The Soap and Glory Archery pencil lasts all day, doesn’t smudge and most importantly looks au natural. Up until now, I’ve been using HD Brows powder in Foxy along with an angled brush to fill in my brows. I personally love my HD Brow palette but it is on its last legs, having been dropped multiple times but it’s good to change products up once in a while. Would I purchase Soap and Glory Archery 2 in 1 pencil again?
Yes absolutely. It is a fantastic dupe for the Anastasia Brow Whiz and it’s a fraction of the price. Soap and Glory Archery 2 in 1 Brow Filling Pencil and Brush is an excellent product and is available at select Boots nationwide (I purchased mine in Galway city) and on Boots.com for €10.00.
