More than 275 people turned out to meet Pippa O’Connor at her Simple Tips to Live Beautifully book signing in O’Mahony’s Booksellers Limerick recently.
The event, which kicked off at 11am, saw people queuing hours beforehand to meet the lifestyle and fashion blogger.
First in the queue were mother and daughter Martha and Aoife McCarthy. “We came at 9am because we wanted to get here as early as possible to ensure we’d get in to see her,” the pair told the Limerick Voice.
Martha, who was picking up two books to get signed by Pippa, one for a family friend who’s had a tumultuous year and the other for her daughter-in-law, said, “We’re big fans of Pippa. We watched her on the Late Late Show the other night and we follow her on Instagram, so we’re really looking forward to meeting her in person.”
Another early arriver, Geraldine Riordan, attended the event on behalf of her daughter Linda, who’s a big Pippa fan.
“She’s currently trekking through Peru with the Irish Cancer Society. She left Ireland last Wednesday morning to climb Machu Picchu, an Inca Settlement,” the Caherconlish woman said.
“She’s having a great time over there. We’ve been in touch up until today, but she’s starting the major part of the trek so I won’t hear anymore from her until Tuesday,” Geraldine said.
Linda is due to return home October 22nd and Geraldine hopes to surprise her with a signed copy of Pippa’s Simple Tips to Live Beautifully.
Former top Irish model Pippa, hung up her modelling stilettos some years ago to launch brand Pippa.
Since then the 32-year-old entrepreneur has created Pippa.ie, a hugely successful lifestyle and fashion website, a Pippa Palette in collaboration with Blank Canvas Cosmetics and a brand new POCO by Pippa denim range.
Pippa.ie, which now garners as many as five million views per year, will celebrate its third birthday next month.
The reasons for Pippa’s meteoric success won’t come as a surprise to anyone that’s worked with her according to Cliona Lewis, Publicity Director for Penguin Random House Ireland.
“Pippa is such a hard worker and is an absolute pleasure to deal with. We’re so delighted with how her new book has turned out”, she enthused.
Pippa’s new book Simple Tips to Live Beautifully shot to number one on the bestseller lists here in Ireland, beating other well-known Irish faces, such as Munster’s Paul O’Connell and comedian Graham Norton, to the top spot. “It went to number one after just three days, and that is across all genres,” Cliona stated.
The Penguin Random House publication is expected to continue to be a top seller this holiday season.
When asked if there was a second book in the works, the publicity director simply said, “Nothing at the moment but we’ve got big ambitions for Pippa and Simple Tips to Live Beautifully”.
O’Mahony’s Shop Manager, Colette Cotter, also commented on the book signing. “There was a fantastic turnout today, we’re very pleased,” she said.
